Star Fox Demo (Switch 2 2026) - Meteo High Score (545 Hits)

Did attempts offline to try and practice a bunch of different odd new strategies, and surprisingly ended up with this score. There are several oddities I've learned about this version of the game that are shown in this run. First off, you can actually get Slippy to appear at the end of the first rock tunnel! I thought it was odd that he didn't show up in this new game, because he normally shows up here on the N64 version, but if you somersault, then it keeps you back far enough to where Slippy can be seen for a brief moment. This leads me to believe that they messed up coding this part of the stage. Anyways, this is done because Slippy needs to be shot down later in the stage to spawn more enemies. The next thing is that shockingly, it's also best to do the same with Peppy for points. When you shoot Peppy down in a particular spot after the supply box, swarms of enemies show up. We used to never go for this on the N64 version because the normal enemies end up despawning for these swarms, but in this version, it seems like you can actually get BOTH groups of enemies to show up at the same time! It seems pretty finicky though, like sometimes the enemies do despawn. My guess is that it has to do with exactly when you finish off Peppy. I try to shoot him down as soon as he reaches the back of the screen, and get moderate success with that usually. The other big thing I wanted to mention is that this game allows you to restart at the checkpoint with your laser level and bomb count completely intact, which is awesome. You also seem to have the ability to kill yourself and get a new set of 3 bombs and no laser upgrades too! This is great because now you have the convenience of keeping your resources if you want, or respawning with 3 bombs. I absolutely LOVE that restarts in this game do not consume lives. It was easily the worst part of score running the original game, and this is going to make score running the new game so much better. I tried beating this score today on stream, but I didn't have good enough luck in doing so. This is gonna be a tricky PB for me to beat, because I'm approaching my actual real N64 Meteo PB set almost 20 years ago of 557. I would love to be able to beat that in this version, but I'm certainly hitting the wall where improvements will be pretty hard for me at the moment. I'm still happy to keep trying though, so hopefully I'll break through again soon! Thanks for watching!
