At 59, my life outdoors is all about exploring beyond the fells, whether that’s coastal walks, countryside hikes, or discovering new adventures in the UK and beyond. Roker Beach, Seaburn Beach, Sunderland, taking in the pier, Roker Park, Meik's Cast Iron Lighthouse, Bede's Cross, and the beaches and cliffs. Roker Beach is a wide sandy beach with rugged cliffs and rocks and is located on the North East Coast situated in Sunderland Tyne Wear. Roker Beach can get busy during the summer months and Roker Park has plenty of play areas for the young. Both Roker and Seaburn beaches have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag and Seaside Awards. Roker Beach is split in two via the Roker Pier which has the Roker Lighthouse at the end. Heading North past Meik's Cast Iron Lighthouse, you are at Seaburn Beach which again is a sandy beach and is popular during the summer.
