Landschap De Liereman is one of the oldest nature reserves in Flanders, and perhaps it is even the oldest nature reserve. I received a tip from a birder, and good tips should be followed, so I was back in the Flemish countryside. We went for a bird walk past the beautiful bird hide and the amazing observation tower, watching and listening to all the birds that crossed our path. I found the Middle Spotted Woodpecker that landed right in front of me in a birch tree to be the highlight of our walk.
