Bałta (Балта) - dawna granica polsko-turecka

Every journey must come to an end. Ours, too, has ended, following the trail of towns and cities of the former Braclaw Voivodeship, dating back to the pre-partition period of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The last stop on our route was Bałta. This unassuming town in the Odessa Oblast has nothing to do with the Baltic Sea, but it does have a connection to the Polish-Turkish border! Yes, you read that correctly, because this is where the border crossing between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Ottoman Empire once stood. History, ladies and gentlemen! Today, Bałta still uses the customary nomenclature, dividing the city into Polish and Turkish parts. And there are many more traces of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth!
