Qu'est-ce que la Nature ? - Cours de Philosophie
Download the printable version of this video on my Patreon ( / coursitout ) or by becoming a Premium Member on YouTube! In this video, we will clarify what philosophers mean by "nature" by exploring three key moments: Aristotle, Descartes, and Hans Jonas. We show how, for Aristotle, physis is an internal and finalized principle (telos); how Descartes reconstructs nature as "extended matter" (res extensa) through mathematical laws; and how Jonas proposes an ethic of responsibility in the technological age (heuristic of fear). We connect these ideas to our current debates on ecology and technology. Useful for reviewing for the philosophy baccalaureate (essay, explanation, oral presentation).
