CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS Saint John Eudes (OC VIII 697-698) Accept, my adorable Savior, my desire to consecrate myself entirely to the honor and glory of Your Sacred Heart. Accept the gift I wish to make to You of all that I am. I consecrate to You my person and my life, my actions, my sorrows and sufferings, and from now on I wish to be a consecrated victim to Your glory, enkindled now and, if it so pleases You, one day consumed in the sacred flames of Your love. My Lord and my God, I offer You my heart with all the sentiments of which it is capable, that I may make my whole life conform to the sentiments of Yours. Here I am, Lord. I am all for Your Heart, here I am all for You. My God, how great are Your mercies toward me! God of majesty, what am I that You should deign to accept the sacrifice of my heart? From now on, this heart will be entirely yours, and creatures will have no part in it. Besides, what are they before you? Kind Jesus, from now on be my Father, my friend, my master, and my all. I no longer want to live except for you. Kind Savior of mankind, receive the sacrifice that the most ungrateful of men makes to your Sacred Heart, to repair the offense I have not ceased to commit against you until this moment, responding so poorly to your love. I give him little, but at least I give him all that I can give him, and all that he desires. And I consecrate this heart to him; I give it to him never to take it back. My kind Savior, teach me perfect self-forgetfulness, for it is the only path that can open the entrance to your Sacred Heart for me, and since from now on I do nothing but for you, make everything I do worthy of you. Teach me what I must do to reach the purity of your love. But give me this love, and a most ardent and generous love: give me that profound humility without which one cannot please you and fulfill in me all your holy will in time and in eternity. Amen.
