This Old Vintage Guitar Needed New Frets…

1980 Guild M80 refret with Jescar EVO Gold frets. This beautiful 1980 Guild M80 came to my workshop for a complete refret. The original nickel silver frets were heavily worn, the fretboard had become extremely dry, and the neck needed significant correction. On top of that, the owner wanted to change the fretboard radius from 9.5” to 14”, making this much more than a standard refret. For this project, I installed a new set of Jescar EVO Gold frets. They’re one of my favorite fret materials. They look stunning, offer excellent durability, and are more challenging to work with than traditional nickel silver fretwire. The extra effort is always worth it. If you enjoy detailed lutherie work, vintage guitar restoration, and satisfying ASMR repair videos, I hope you’ll enjoy this one.
