Alex Carpenter & Cristina Silva Toledo came to India in 2015 with a budding dream of living a life close to nature & also help conserving and restoring forests & wildlife habitats. After meeting people resonating with the same dream in Goa, the couple along with a few friends soon went on to lease out an abandoned cashew plantation in Agonda with the intention of living off-the-grid in the most eco-friendly manner possible. The result was ‘The Tribe Goa’, an off-grid eco-village that catered to tourists that wanted to experience the bliss of living in nature and also focused on community living based on sharing, restoring natural habitats & reforesting degraded areas in and around their property.
