Selena rose to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s with her family band Selena y Los Dinos, becoming one of the most influential Latin artists of all time. Known for her powerful voice, vibrant personality, and groundbreaking achievements in Tejano music, Selena’s legacy continues to inspire millions around the world. Visiting Corpus Christi has always been a dream of mine as a lifelong fan. This trip meant even more to me because Selena was tragically taken from us on March 31, 1995—my 13th birthday. Being in the city she called home and standing in the very places she once stood was a surreal and emotional experience. Walking through her recording studio brought overwhelming emotions, and seeing her personal belongings and iconic outfits in the museum left me completely in awe. One of the most unbelievable moments was seeing her sister, Suzette Quintanilla, casually walking through the museum—it truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After the museum, we visited Mirador de la Flor, where Selena’s beautiful commemorative statue stands along the Corpus Christi seawall. It was such a peaceful yet powerful place to reflect. We then enjoyed some amazing Mexican food before ending the day at her gravesite, where we paid our respects. This was an emotional journey that brought me closer to Selena’s life, legacy, and spirit. I can’t wait to return to Corpus Christi to explore even more landmarks connected to this incredible artist. 💜 Thank you for watching and celebrating Selena with me.
