September 2009 Suntech Rod Company of Japan introduced the Suntech Kurenai GM I HMR Line of 6 Seiryu rods. The HM30, HM33, HM39, HM45, HM54 and the HM63R. Custom hand crafted rods that in a very short time dominated the Seiryu rod market within Japan. Four years later in 2012, the Kurenai GM I HMR arrived in the United States. History was made, the Kurenai I HM 30R rod became an instant HIT!!! After it's U.S. debut news spread around the Tenkara world and fishermen everywhere sought out ownership of the Suntech Kurenai I HM30R. "The Curse of the Kurenai" hysteria over took "Tenkaradom" infatuated by the HM30R. Cosmetically adorned glossy bright Candy Apple Red color, featuring a full Length of 2.9 Meters, total weight of 0.9 ounce, that is under 1ounce!! Boasting an outrageous one-of-a-kind T-1 tip Outer Diameter of 0.5mm !!!! A CCS=7.5 pennies and a RFI=2.4 . A phenomenal masterpiece. Good things come to an end, and after a near 14 year production cycle Suntech ended production in December of 2023. Suntech Rod Company pulled the infamous Kurenai I HMR series off the retail market. The HMR rods and to date, all replacement parts are no longer produced by Suntech Rod company of Japan. The HM30,HM33,HM39,HM45,HM54 and HM63 rods of the Suntech Kurenai GM I HMR Series are only found as a rare listing on the used market, and are bought up immediately.
