Machining on the Mini Mill & Floating Carriage Micrometer "of sorts"
In this video, I set up and operate my Mini Mill to finish machining my bronze flanges. There is a full explanation of the operation and use of the tilting axis Taylor Hobson rotary table on the Mill. Inspection of bronze flanges on the SIP measuring machine. In the second half of this video, there is an introduction of the Matrix cg&t & Sigma Floating Carriage Micrometer (of sorts), together with a Carl Zeiss Micrometer to briefly demonstrate and explain the calibration of screw plug gauges with both 2 and 3 wire methods. 0:00 DISCLAIMER 0:07 Machining grooves on mini mill 2:44 Welcome back 4:11 de-burred and finished machining bronze flange 5:18 Inspection of bronze flange on SIP 8:39 Explanation of dialing in rotary table on to mini mill 24:53 collet holder with morse taper 3 sleeve 26:05 Review of my Mini Mill (it's a great machine) 26:55 Matrix & Sigma Floating Carriage Micrometer & Measuring cylinders + prisms 29:49 Explaining the meaning of "the best wire size" for thread measuring with basic diagram 32:59 Re-work and modifications needed for my floating carriage 34:07 Matrix cg&t 200 nanometer per division vernier scale micrometer head 34:20 fiducial indicator re-work 35:28 General info of the carriage 36:03 Explaining and briefly demonstrating the procedure of using a floating carriage 2 wire method as an example 44:34 Introduction to Carl Zeiss Micrometer and explanation of 3 wire method 46:07 close up of Matrix floating carriage 46:35 Ending
