I Was Chasing The Wrong Problem!
In the last episode I was convinced that the carburettor was causing the running problems on my 1922 Ner-a-Car. I even fitted a completely different carburettor from a Seagull outboard motor, fabricated a new exhaust system and repaired the cracked cast exhaust manifold. It all seemed very promising... until the bike refused to start. Back in the workshop, I decided to take a fresh look at the problem and quickly realised I may have been chasing the wrong fault entirely. Could the ignition timing have been the culprit all along? In this episode I investigate the timing, repair the leaking exhaust manifold, refit the original carburettor and attempt to get this remarkable 100-year-old motorcycle running properly at last. Will I finally solve the mystery, or is the Ner-a-Car about to throw another surprise my way?
