96-98 Hyundai Elantra Floating Rotor Brake Conversion

The factory front brakes on our 1997 Hyundai Elantra Wagon were sufficient for daily driving and occasional grassroots motorsport use. However, the stock captive rotor setup limits us on the aftermarket wheels we can slap on. The bolt heads that protrude on the stock rotors require spacers to allow 4-hole universal wheels to be mounted. The facelifted J2 Elantra (and RD2 Coupe/Tiburon) revised the front rotor setup to be mounted in a floating manner, meaning that the rotor is secured mostly by the lug nuts. Thus in this video, we change the hubs to the later model parts, pair an equivalent 255mm rotor with the stock calipers, and grinded part of the caliper to fit our aftermarket wheels. ------------ Some still images used in this video are from the following sources: edproject.co.uk theservicestationblog.com hyundaimotorgroup.com redlineautoparts.com ------------ If this content helps you, consider supporting the channel. https://buymeacoffee.com/kuholgarage Or be a member:    / @kuholgarage   Kuhol Garage / KHL Motorsport   / kuholgarage     / kuholgarage   #HyundaiElantra #BrakeUpgrade #FloatingRotor #ProjectCar #DIYMechanic #AutomotiveEngineering #BrakeConversion #CarBuild #Hyundai #KHLMotorsport
