How to: cut & sew Quilted Ruffle Backpack| using a home sewing machine

Let's sew a cute little backpack using your favorite fabrics. These quilted backpacks are easy to make and sell or give as a special gift. You can use fat quarters for this project or scrap fabrics. I will be using my Singer Heavy Duty home sewing machine to complete this backpack. Do you like ruffles? Ruffles are coming back in style as the summer of 2026, and I think they are cute and fun to create. Let's get to sewing. Thanks for watching and sewing a-long with me. #sew #tutorial #bag #purplepatchcrew Materials needed: (vary depending on where you live and the materials you have on hand) 🧵2- Main Fabric 17' by 13" 🧵2- lining fabric 17" by !3" 🧵 Cotton batting is optional if you want to quilt your bag pieces, cut same as main piece and front flap piece 🧵2- 47" canvas webbing (I will be using gros grain ribbon for this) 🧵2- 6" webbing 🧵 1- Outer fabric 8" by 9" for the front flap 🧵 2- lining fabric 8" by 9" one for the main flap and one for the inside pocket 🧵 2-D rings 🧵 Metal slide on buckles 🧵 1-Magnetic Clasp 🧵 Elastic to create gathers for top part of the bag.
