Hajj of the Heart: The Inner Meaning of the Pilgrimage

This is a recording of our recent online gathering reflecting on the spiritual meanings of the Hajj pilgrimage and its connection to the soul’s journey to God. Drawing from the wisdom of Jalal al-Din Rumi, Abu Hamid al-Ghazali, Ibn Arabi, and the broader Sufi tradition, this session reflects upon the inner significance of the rites of pilgrimage — circumambulation, sacrifice, longing, return, and surrender. The Qur’an teaches that humanity was gathered before God before entering this world, and that we will return again after passing through death. The Hajj is a reminder of that greater journey: a gathering of souls from every land and language answering the call of the Divine.
