The Life of Rumi

What were the defining moments in the life of Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī? Filmed at the Panoramic Museum in Konya, Türkiye, Baraka Blue guides us through the major events that shaped the life and legacy of one of the world's most beloved spiritual teachers. Following a series of historical paintings depicting Rūmī's life, this talk explores his early years, his education under some of the greatest scholars of his age, and the pivotal encounter with Shams al-Din Tabrizi that transformed him from a respected scholar into one of history's greatest poets and mystics. Along the way, we examine the spiritual significance of love, loss, longing, and transformation in Rūmī's journey, as well as the birth and spread of the Mevlevi Order through the efforts of his son, Sultan Walad. The talk also reflects on the enduring influence of the Mathnawī, Rūmī's masterpiece, and the role it played in shaping the spiritual life of generations across the Muslim world. More than a historical account, this is an invitation to reflect on our own lives: What are the defining moments that have shaped who we are becoming?
