In the spring of 1945, as the Third Reich crumbled before the eyes of the world, thousands of people were still being driven on death marches through burning Germany. Starvation, executions, bombings, and terror continued until the final hours of the war. Even just before the arrival of the Americans, those deemed Jews were shot. Many of the perpetrators later disappeared in the chaos of the war's end. They were never brought to trial. They were never punished.
