Perché abbiamo smesso di fare figli? | Francesca Fiore | TEDxBelluno
Francesca Fiore addresses the issue of Italy's declining birth rate with clarity and irony, overturning many clichés. It's not selfishness or women's emancipation that makes us stop having children, but a combination of economic, cultural, and social factors that make parenthood a solitary and unsustainable endeavor. Through concrete data and profound reflections, Fiore shows how the true "demographic winter" isn't just about numbers, but about the disappearance of the collective sense of the village that once supported families. She invites us to rebuild community, equity, and sharing, because only together will the desire to build a future return. Francesca Fiore is an Italian writer and digital content creator, known for co-founding the blog "Mammadimerda" with Sarah Malnerich in 2016. Through this project, she addresses the challenges of motherhood and issues related to women's rights with irony and candor, offering an alternative narrative to traditional stereotypes. In addition to her blog, Francesca has co-authored the books "Non farcela come stile di vita" (2022) and "Angele del focolare" (2023), published by Feltrinelli. Active in the digital feminist scene, Francesca uses social media to raise awareness on gender issues and promote a more inclusive and equal culture. Her outreach also extends to public events and conferences, where she discusses topics related to motherhood, work, and gender equality. Francesca is active on Instagram with the personal profile @franciflower and the account @mammadimerda, where she continues to share thought-provoking content on the condition of women and mothers in contemporary society. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
