Kerala is the symbolic home of Indian football. This region has always held a deeper connection to the sport, even over cricket. From the tradition of Kerala 7's and neighbourhood tournaments in the city, the World Cup and the way the city gathers around the tournament, despite India having never participated in it, and of course the Kerala Blasters.
