This cake brings back the sweetest childhood memories. ❤️ Thirty or forty years ago, when not every home had an oven and many ingredients were hard to find in stores, our mothers and grandmothers made cakes like this with simple homemade ingredients. The natural homemade sour cream gives it a rich, delicate flavor that many of us remember from childhood. Soft cake layers, creamy frosting, and an unforgettable homemade taste. Pan Cake with Sour Cream Frosting 🍰 Ingredients: 5 eggs 180 g sugar A pinch of salt 160 g flour 60 g vegetable oil ½ tsp baking powder ½ tsp baking soda For the Frosting: 350 g homemade sour cream 180 g sugar For Decoration: Grated chocolate or chopped walnuts Instructions: Beat the eggs, sugar, and salt until light and fluffy. You can use a mixer. If whisking by hand, beat for at least 10 minutes. Add the vegetable oil and beat again. Add the sifted flour and mix thoroughly until smooth. Heat a frying pan and lightly grease it with oil, just like you would for pancakes. Pour in one ladle of batter and cook over low heat with the lid on. The frying pan I used is 25 cm (10 inches) in diameter. After 2–3 minutes, flip the cake layer and cook for another 2–3 minutes. You should end up with about 5–6 cake layers. Let the layers cool. Meanwhile, prepare the frosting. Beat the cold homemade sour cream with the sugar until smooth. If you don’t have homemade sour cream, you can use store-bought sour cream or any other frosting you prefer. Spread the frosting over each cake layer and stack them together. Cover the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting, then sprinkle with grated chocolate or chopped walnuts.
