Vilarinho de Negrões: A Aldeia que Quase Desapareceu… Engolida pela Água

Vilarinho de Negrões is one of the most remarkable villages in Portugal — not because of its abandonment, but because it was partially submerged. With the construction of the Alto Rabagão Dam in the 1950s, a large part of the village disappeared underwater. In this Forgotten Portugal video, we show: Life before the dam The impact of the reservoir's construction The forced abandonment of the population The ruins that still appear today when the water recedes And the iconic isolated church A story of progress… and loss. 📍 Location: Montalegre, northern Portugal
