This is their hit song Chance from their incredible album The Crossing in 1983. This is them live at what many consider to be their spiritual home, The Barrowlands (The Barrowland Ballroom, The Barras), in Glasgow. The meaning of the lyrics in this track are thought to be about a girl who has a hard time at home and marries the first guy who comes along. She has children and he disappears. Stuart said he knew a few that this had happened to. Born in Manchester to Scottish parents, the family moved to just outside Dunfermline in Fife, a city that was once the capital of the Kingdom of Scotland. He was an incredible musician and songwriter who sadly died in 2001. He’d had problems with alcohol I’ve covered a lot of Scottish music: The Proclaimers: Throw the R Away and Sean; Nazareth: This Flight Tonight; The Snuts: Burn the Empire; The Waterboys: A Bang on the Ear; Fairground Attraction: Perfect; Edwyn Collins: A Girl Like You; Rod Stewart: Handbags and Gladrags; Primal Scream: Moving on Up.
