GRAND OPENING: riding Reading & Northern's first Pittston-to-Jim Thorpe train (part 2 of 2)

On May 27, 2023 Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad ran the first of their highly anticipated passenger trains from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Regional Railroad Station in Pittston to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. This inaugural run was led by diesel F-units #270 and #275 and SD50-2 #5018. The trio pulled a consist of 12 coaches, 4 private cars, a dining car, and a generator car. Over 800 passengers were on board for the ride. The route traversed approximately 60 miles of mountainous scenery including the entirety of Lehigh Gorge. Passengers had four hours to explore the town of Jim Thorpe before the return trip. I rode this first train with fellow YouTuber ‪@JPVideos81‬, and through the generosity of RBMN owner Andy Muller, Jr. we were upgraded to what I consider the best car on the train - the #22 Appalachian Trail open air car.
