La distruzione del Teatro Sannazaro di Napoli: il momento dell’incendio e cosa è successo

A horrific fire broke out overnight on Via Chiaia in Naples inside an apartment building around 6:00 a.m. The Teatro Sannazaro went up in flames, destroying its dome, but there was also extensive damage inside. So much so that the fire department commander announced this morning that the historic auditorium is now destroyed. The fire was extinguished only around 9:00 a.m. Enrico Pennella first reported the fire and shared photos on social media. Mayor Gaetano Manfredi and Prefect Michele Di Bari also arrived at the theater. Lara Sansone, owner and artistic director of the theater, arrived on the scene. The niece of actress Luisa Conte burst into tears after being told of the theater's condition. The theater's dome collapsed, hitting the stalls. The flames inflicted poisoning on several people and took them to the hospital, but no one is in danger of dying. Sansone has asked the mayor for help, but the theater is privately owned, so a solution must be found. Flames are high, smoke is thick. Fear is rife among residents of the central Via Chiaia following the fire that engulfed Naples' historic Sannazzaro Theater. "We've been awake since 5:00 a.m., there's a massive cloud," they say. "We're at home with handkerchiefs over our noses." Several people have been inhaled by smoke, some of them even taken to the hospital. The plume of smoke is visible from several areas of the city. 22 apartments have been evacuated.
