¿Aceptarán? Integrante de “JP” rompe su silencio sobre el conteo electoral
Uncertainty surrounding the outcome of the presidential runoff continues to dominate the Peruvian political landscape. With thousands of ballots still pending review and overseas votes being tallied, the debate has shifted to electoral projections, quick counts, and the anticipation of who will ultimately be declared president of Peru by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE). During an interview with Milagros Leiva, César Guarniz, a member of Roberto Sánchez's technical team and a member of the País para Todos (Country for All) party, defended the validity of the statistical studies conducted by Ipsos and Datum, but questioned the interpretations that have arisen regarding the preliminary results. He indicated that the controversy arose after various analyses attempted to project future scenarios based on the quick count released after election day. "What we are asking for at this moment is that this be respected and that there be no questioning of the results," Guarniz stated, referring to the work carried out by the companies responsible for conducting the quick counts. However, he acknowledged that the final result will depend exclusively on the progress of the official vote count conducted by the ONPE (National Office of Electoral Processes). When asked if Juntos por el Perú (Together for Peru) would respect the final election results, Guarniz was emphatic. “We have to wait until the last vote is counted at the ONPE, and those are the democratically determined results that must be respected,” he stated. He later reiterated his position that every “transparent vote must be respected.” The discussion comes amid growing political tension following statements by some leaders linked to Juntos por el Perú, who have expressed concern about a potential shift in the electoral trend. As is well known, the differences between the two candidates remain minimal; votes from abroad still need to be counted, and disputed and challenged ballots need to be resolved. OFFICIAL COUNT KEEPS PRESIDENTIAL RESULT IN SUSPENSE While Keiko Fujimori has opted for a cautious stance awaiting the official results, Roberto Sánchez has also moderated his rhetoric after the initial celebrations on election Sunday. The narrow margin between the two candidates keeps the country on edge, awaiting every update published by the ONPE (National Office of Electoral Processes) and the review of the outstanding ballots. A TAKEOVER OF LIMA? At another point, Guarniz denied that there have been any official calls for a “Takeover of Lima” or a “March of the Four Suyos” from his political organization and asked that interpretations that increase uncertainty be avoided. “There will be no takeover of Lima. Nobody has said that,” he stated. #RobertoSanchez #KeikoFujimori #Elections2026 #ONPEResults #VoteCount #PeruSecondRound #PeruBreakingNews #PeruvianPolitics #PeruPresidency #PeruPresidentialElection
