Until now, the French National Health Insurance (Assurance Maladie) could stop your daily sickness benefits (IJSS) if the medical advisor deemed you fit to perform "any professional activity whatsoever." In other words: even if you were unfit for your current job, they could cut off your benefits based on the assumption that you could do a completely different job (the absurd example of a lawyer on sick leave being assumed to be capable of cleaning houses!). Good news: this rule, completely detached from reality, is over ❌. In its decision no. 2025-899 DC of December 30, 2025, the Constitutional Council struck down this practice.
