Escaping a Wildfire in the BWCA - Boundary Waters Closure & Wildfires
Texas resident Bailey Shinn was on a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters when the Camp Fire took off Monday, July 13. An evacuation of the BWCA was underway, and the complete closure of the wilderness was looming. While camping on Pipestone Bay (Basswood Lake) Shinn, her three young children, and her husband had the Camp Fire roll up to their camp. The fire was moving in quickly, and Shinn and her family had to exit their campsite quickly, leaving their new tent and other camping gear behind. She shares her story with Joe from the Paddle & Portage Podcast. #bwca #boundarywaters #outdoors #wildfires #closure
