Southbound on ICW. : Crazy Saturday Boaters

Heading southbound to Wilmington on the ICW . The Wild Herron was on the hard at Bridgeton Boatworks for about a month getting routine bottom painting and some needed repairs. Finally had Splash day on a Thurs , but it was in afternoon so we made a quick stop at Oriental Marina and Inn for the night. This pushed our travel a day behind, leaving us travelling on Fri and Sat. Friday we had an uneventful cruise to Swansboro Town Docks. We left at crack of dawn on Sat to be able to beat the weekend boaters and to make it to Wilmington. Gotta say it got crazy dangerous with all the small boaters that have no regard for rules. We almost were hit by a small boat travelling at high speed while we were already under Wrightsville Bridge.. We will now avoid weekend travel on the ICW.
