Wildlife observers know that some creatures live in packs, herds, and groups of varying sizes. From wolves to dolphins to even ant armies, all of these creatures stick together. Chimpanzees are particularly known for their close social bonds; they live in groups of 15 to 150 individuals. However, these relationships are not always harmonious, and chimpanzees sometimes fight among themselves. Humans are similar in some ways, in that they not only tend to exist in groups, but they also sometimes fight among themselves within those groups. Unfortunately, this is also the case in our communities! Groups form, usually around a charismatic leader. And, even worse, sometimes one group does not get along with the other. Have you ever seen this in your church? If so, you have some idea of ​​the problem that Paul faced in Corinth. This week we will examine some texts from the first four chapters of 1 Corinthians, where the apostle Paul discusses the problem of divisions in the church and ways to overcome them through unity in Christ.
