The Three Investigators 60th Anniversary Series Overview

Created by Robert Arthur in 1964, the series was designed as an intelligent and thoughtful alternative to other series of the time, including the iconic Hardy Boys. The series features extremely resilient and unique characters determined to be successful detectives by using their wits and deductive reasoning. These qualities touched the hearts and minds of countless generations who remember the series fondly. The mysteries themselves always had unique aspects that set them apart and immediately grabbed the readers attention. But the masterstroke was in securing the rights to use Alfred Hitchcock himself as a presence either in the text or in the book introductions and closing sections. This gave the books a feeling of legitimacy and a direct connection to the Master of Suspense, making them irresistible to all mystery lovers young and old. Unfortunately, the series has been dormant in its home country for a great number of years and used copies are highly collectible. In other countries, especially Germany, it is a different story as Jupiter, Pete and Bob have never lost popularity. There now exist hundreds of German language stories running up to this very day. Things are changing in the US however, as the original 10 Robert Arthur written books have finally been brought back into print by his daughter Elizabeth who is also hoping to launch a continuation series in the next year. Hopefully the rest of the original series can see reprinting soon, and the iconic detective trio from Rocky Beach will spark the imaginations of an entirely new generation of eager readers.
