Tokyo to Sapporo - Episode 1 "The Train"

The Tōhoku Shinkansen began operating in 1982. It runs between Tokyo and Shin-Aomori, the longest distance of any line operated by JR EAST. There is also direct service with other lines, including the Hokkaido Shinkansen, which runs between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. Hayabusa train goes from Tokyo to Hakodate (not Hokuto like I said) at 200 mph top speed. Hokuto is the slow 2nd train with a diesel engine and is still called a shinkansen, which travels from Hakodate to Sapporo at 81 mph top speed. I got the qr codes from the klook app a month before, and for this first leg, which is the Hayabusa train from Tokyo to Hakodate, the machine printed 2 tickets: fare and journey. I also got the qr code for the second leg, which is the Hokuto train from Hakodate to Sapporo. This time, the machine only printed the journey ticket. Now, this is where it gets complicated. The first gate in Tokyo you insert the fare ticket, which you get back on the other side. On the next gate which goes to the tracks, assuming you read the track for your trip on the board, you insert the fare and journey tickets which you also get back on the other side of the gate. Keep those 2 tickets for the 2nd train. You will need to insert those 2 plus the 2nd leg journey ticket all together and get all 3 back on the other side of the gate in Hakodate. Otherwise, the gate will not open and delay you from boarding the 2nd train. They never explained those procedures to a newbie. The only reason why I didn't fly, which would have been cheaper and faster, was to experience this green train. I already know the N700 series, which is a bit slower. One last tip: Buy food from Konbini for the trip. It's cheaper and more quantity. The bento boxes on the platform are a ripoff with very little food on a big box. The worst is the food they sell inside the train. It is very expensive and not fresh at all.
