Tweseldown Novice - BE Horse Trials 2013

Well what horrible, horrible, horrible conditions!! We made the 3 hour trip to Tweseldown for my first Novice of the season (only my second novice ever)! Dressage=28 (in the lead after dressage) - ridiculous conditions in the arena so tried to ride it sensibly so medium trots and canters weren't as big as they could be and I think he got a bit stuck in the mud in his rein back ahah! But considering we only had a 5min warm up because so many had withdrawn and I didnt want to do too much on the horrible ground - he was incredible very very pleased! Showjumping - clear! Again horrible conditions very deep - but my amazing boy jumped out of his skin and got me out of trouble bless him! Really amazing round considering the conditions! So pleased! XC - decided to go for it, because I needed the run out and after speaking to riders who had been xc they said that the ground actually rode okay! So I went for it - but after a very rare stop at a nasty coffin fence I decided to retire as clearly he wasn't enjoying him self and I'd much rather have him home in one piece to put the stop right another day! So a mixed day but extremely pleased with dressage and showjumping :)!
