What Van Life Really Costs Me in 2026 (Honest Breakdown)

Lately, life has been shifting in ways I didn’t expect… In my last video, I shared that I’ve had to stop traveling for now—and in this one, I wanted to be honest about why. Yes, the cost of van life in Australia has changed. Fuel prices, food, and everyday living are all adding up in a way that makes this lifestyle harder to sustain right now. But it’s not just about money. There are things happening behind the scenes too—ongoing issues with my battery system that need attention, leaving the van at the workshop, and even something as simple as needing new tyres after nearly getting stuck recently. And then there’s life… My stepdad is currently battling cancer, and we’ve recently been told he doesn’t have long left. So right now, being present and spending time with him has become my priority. Van life has given me so much since I started in 2020, and this is now my third van build… but sometimes life asks you to slow down, reassess, and just be where you’re needed. This isn’t the end of the journey… just a different chapter.
