Mark Making Magic: Posca, White Pen, and Pencils in Gouache

Today I’m back in my Bare Spine Beauty journal, filling pages with layered abstract color studies inspired by the Color Cube. I’m using the same palette on both pages, but I’m changing the dominant color in each painting to see how the mood shifts when I let one hue lead the way. To add interest to the spread, I taped off two different sizes and worked my way through lots of mark-making and texture using Holbein gouache, Kingart gel crayons and gel sticks, Faber-Castell Black Collection pencils, Kuretake gold mica ink in a fine line bottle, a Pandafly white pen, and Posca pens. If you love playful mixed media abstracts, color palette prompts, and art journaling in handmade books, this one’s for you.
