Original video    / @doghost001      / haystov   Originally, before the revolution, the corner building housed a bakery. Sometime around 1900, a grain elevator and mill began operating. According to surviving records, rail service to this elevator dates back to 1913, and grain was delivered by cart until the 1950s. Incidentally, until the early 1970s, the enterprise, located at the intersection of Chebotarskaya and Yevgeniya Kotlyara Streets, was known as Melzavod No. 1. It was then merged with the rye mill on Plekhanovskaya Street (Krupazavod No. 2), and it became known as Bread Products Plant No. 2. This company was part of the Elevatorzernoprom production association. In 1991, the mill was shut down, and the building itself was demolished. Plans were underway to build a new mill on the site, converting it to pasta milling with a capacity of 400 tons per day for the planned pasta factory in Rohan. However, in 1994, budget funding for the construction ceased. Since Ukraine did not grow durum wheat, there was no point in completing the construction. Rumor has it that one of the reasons the elevator reconstruction was never fully completed was a fire that occurred on its premises in the early 1990s. Be that as it may, in 1995, the company responsible for its construction was declared bankrupt. Two years later, in 1997, Kharkiv State Grain Products Plant No. 2 became part of the state joint-stock company "Khlib Ukrainy." In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the corner administrative building of the former grain elevator housed the company's Kharkiv office. After the company "moved," dismantling the structures of the former industrial giant began. This work lasted until 2008, when it was "frozen." Since then, the grain elevator has slowly deteriorated. The building itself has become a den for homeless people and drug addicts. Today, all that remains of the structure is guarded. Guards man the main checkpoint and make periodic patrols.
