Parkrun | Hackworth parkrun - Shildon, County Durham, UK - December 2025

Join me for a speeded up point of view run at Hackworth Parkrun. This was their 557th event and my 147th. Hackworth Parkrun is held at Hackworth Park in Shildon, County Durham. We drove, and there is a small carpark next to the start or plenty of on-road parking on the roads surrounding the park which are free. I'm not sure about public transport for this one although I did see a bus stop close by and a bus heading to Darlington, which is on the East Coast train route but you would need to investigate if this is a viable option to get there in time for the normal 9am start. The course is 3 laps then a long straight stretch to the finish. The going is on tarmac paths around the park but there is a grass section alongside a football pitch, it felt firm but may get soggy if it rains. Some of the tarmac paths are also a little broken up. This is a small parkrun, there were only 40 of us when I did it and it suggests 60 as an average so although there was a small amount of congestion at the start it soon spread out.
