◼︎ On April 7, 1996, Park Chan-ho earned his first win in the American Major Leagues. He was the first Korean pitcher to win in the MLB. Since his days at Hanyang University, Park had astonished American professional baseball officials by throwing fastballs reaching speeds of up to 160 km/h. The Los Angeles Dodgers recruited him by offering a high signing bonus ($1.2 million), which was considered a top prospect level even in the U.S., and made his Major League debut without going through the minor leagues. Although he experienced a slump following his first win in 1996, through constant routine adjustments and mental focus, he established himself as a starting pitcher by achieving 14 wins for two consecutive years in 1998.
