Le scandale des enfants oubliés de Tuam (Les enfants du péché)
The scandal broke out in May 2014, after the discovery of a historian. 800 children are believed to be buried clandestinely in Tuam, a small town in western Ireland. The skeletons lie in a septic tank on the former grounds of a home for single mothers. Until the 1990s, the country had dozens of detention centers of this type, run by Catholic religious orders. From what did these babies born out of wedlock, considered the fruit of sin, die? Why were they sold for adoption? Who benefited from this system of horror? This documentary retraces the journey of these mothers-daughters. Directed by: Saskia Weber, Nicolas Glimois
