Having suffered a hangover from exploring Miroku Yokocho the previous night, I slept for a full eight hours and woke up feeling refreshed both physically and mentally. First, I headed to the breakfast buffet I had been looking forward to. A magnificent lineup of Aomori's local dishes, such as Hachinohe senbei soup, tuna, and masu sushi, was on display. There were so many choices—standard bread, salad, curry, and even natto egg rice—that I was tempted to indulge myself. I checked out at 11:00 AM and started walking towards Hon-Hachinohe Station in the cool air with a high of 13°C. Along the way, I stopped to admire the beautiful autumn foliage at the Hachinohe Castle ruins, which were at their peak, and the panoramic views from the hilltop, turning even the waiting time for the local train—which only runs once every 30 minutes to an hour—into a leisurely stroll. The length of each station and the scenery outside the window evoked a sense of nostalgia for Tohoku, where I spent my university years. Surprised by the size of Hachinohe Station, where I first disembarked, I headed to Tanesashi Coast, a place I absolutely wanted to visit. Stepping off the train, I was greeted by an absolutely breathtaking view where the blue of the sky and the blue of the sea blended beautifully. Approaching the water's edge, I was speechless at the clarity of the water. Alongside Okinawa and the Sea of ​​Okhotsk, this is undoubtedly one of the top three most beautiful places I've ever seen in my life. This is a place you absolutely must visit. Listening to the sound of the waves, I trekked along a secluded path through a pine forest along the coast to Mutsu-Shirahama Station, one station away. After walking for about 30 minutes along a path with varying elevations, I arrived at a quiet, unmanned station unlike anything I had ever seen before. Towards the end of my trip, I took the Aoimori Railway for the first time to Misawa Station. Taking advantage of the short time I had waiting for the bus to the airport, I rushed to the day-use hot springs at Hoshino Resorts Aomoriya, located near the station. The silky smooth, blissful water soothed my tired body to the core. I took a 6:35 PM flight from Misawa to Haneda. I returned to Tokyo before 9 PM and headed home for the demanding work ahead. I left Aomori and Hachinohe without any plans or preparations.
