As a minimalist, I wanted to save time on preparations, so I only had one tote bag. My destination this time was Misawa, Aomori Prefecture, a place I'd never been before, thanks to JAL's "Somewhere Miles" program. Even though I spent my university years in Miyagi Prefecture, also in the Tohoku region, this was my first time setting foot on Aomori soil. My heart was pounding with excitement even before departure. I arrived at Misawa Airport that night, enveloped in cool air. After a quick stroll around the airport, I jumped on the direct bus to Hachinohe, as time was running out. Actually, I decided on my hotel during the short waiting time at Haneda Airport. I chose the Hachinohe area, the most developed area in the vicinity, as my base for the night, and booked the Daiwa Roynet Hotel Hachinohe. The bus stopped right in front of the hotel, just as planned, and I felt a sense of satisfaction at the efficient journey. After leaving my luggage in my room, I immediately ventured out into the night streets of Hachinohe, exploring the famous "Miroku Yokocho" and "Rensa-gai" areas. The warm light and lively atmosphere emanating from the food stalls were incredibly alluring, and I was almost drawn in, but even though I enjoy traveling alone, I felt a little intimidated by the unique energy and decided against it this time. I resolved to invite someone next time and step through those curtains together. Since the area is primarily a bar district, I looked for a place where I could quickly grab a dinner alone, and ended up at Sukiya. I chose to quietly savor a katsudon (pork cutlet rice bowl), something I can also eat in Tokyo, in the Hachinohe night. This uninhibited approach, prioritizing my mood at the moment rather than being bound by efficiency or local specialties, is the true essence of my travels. As the first night draws to a close, my expectations for the new scenery I'll see tomorrow grow higher. 🎥 This video's highlights ・The mobility of just one tote bag.
