The texts read and reported below are taken from the CEI Bible. First Reading It's time to seek the Lord. From the book of the prophet Hosea Hos 10:1-3, 7-8, 12 Israel was a luxuriant vine, always yielding its fruit; but the more abundant its fruit, the more it multiplied its altars; the richer the land, the more beautiful its pillars. Their heart is deceitful; now they will pay the penalty! He himself will demolish their altars, he will destroy their pillars. Then they will say, "We have no king, because we do not fear the Lord. And what can the king do for us?" Samaria and its king will perish, like a speck on the water. The high places of iniquity, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed; thorns and thistles will grow on their altars; they will say to the mountains, "Cover us!" and to the hills, "Fall on us!" Sow for yourselves righteousness, and you will reap goodness; break up a new field, for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and pours out his righteousness upon you. The Word of God. Responsorial Psalm From Psalm 104 (105) R. Seek the face of the Lord continually. Sing to the Lord, sing praises to him; meditate on all his wondrous works. Glory in his holy name: let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. R. Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his face continually. Remember the wonders he has done, his wonders and the judgments he uttered. R. You, offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen one. He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth. R. Gospel Acclamation Alleluia, alleluia. The kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the Gospel. (Mark 1:15) Alleluia. Gospel Turn to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. From the Gospel according to Matthew Mt 10:1-7 At that time, Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out, and to cure every disease and every infirmity. The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Cananaean and Judas Iscariot, who later betrayed him. These are the twelve whom Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles, and do not enter any town of the Samaritans. Go instead to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'" The word of the Lord.
