Dasha - Train (acoustic Live in Nashville)
Every Monday night at Nashville's famous The Listening Room Cafe they host female singer/songwriters for their Song Suffragettes show. These always feature talented women singing while patrons dine on delicious food and beverages in a relaxed, café atmosphere. If you're in Nashville on a Monday night, I recommend you plan ahead and get tickets for one of these shows. Show up early and sign in for the best seats. Most tables by the stage accommodate 4, so if you've got a small group and are among the first there, you'll get an unbelievable seat! A little while back, the featured artists were among the top of the up-and-coming female country artist stars. This song, performed by Dasha, was unusual in that Dasha has always seen herself as a songwriter and thought she'd only ever record her own songs. Then she heard Kyle Sturrock's Train and thought to herself, "Oh my God, I need that song!" Dasha went on to describe why this hit her so deeply: "It just perfectly described me moving to Nashville when I was eighteen. I lived by the train tracks and just hearing the train go by every day, and I was like, this is insane." She continued, "The cool part about this song is it's 100% written by this guy named Kyle Sturrock, who is a Nashville songwriter. And getting a 100% cut is f***ing unheard of." Dasha added, "So, shout out to Kyle, sorry for my potty mouth, but he deserves it." (The recognition, not the potty mouth. 😆) I believe this was Dasha's first time performing this live, on stage. I hope you love it as much as I do. You can check out her official version, here on YT or any reputable streaming service. You can also get it on her recently released EP, "Anna." Lyrics are provided below, courtesy of Dasha's official lyric version (which can be found here: • Dasha - Train (Official Lyric Video) . Lyrics: 6:35, 7:30 and 8:29 That thing was always on time Cutting right through the dawn As sharp as a knife I could feel that cold metal grind Like the tracks were right outside Etched in my front lawn The neighbors said it’s nothing but The trains leaving the junction just You wait a couple months and it’ll fade away Time changes everything You hang some pictures up and make A habit out of taking the same way to the grocery store You learn the turns and time the lights, the town you didn’t recognize Becomes a little more like home, you’ll know when you’re Used to the license plates And you gotta a couple friends next door Wake up and realize one day That you don’t hear the train anymore Well I couldn’t sleep Stayed up a couple nights a week Thinking how much better id be If I could ride the freight line outta there The address still didn’t seem right The space inside didn’t feel like A place I could rest my head swear that bed wouldn’t fit anywhere Time changes everything You hang some pictures up and make A habit out of taking the same way to the grocery store You learn the turns and time the lights, the town you didn’t recognize Becomes a little more like home, you’ll know when you’re Used to the license plates And you gotta a couple friends next door Wake up and realize one day That you don’t hear the train anymore Anymore and then it Just seems like part of the charm It becomes ordinary You’d kinda miss it if it stopped And you’re sure that every Little thing you didn’t like’s still around But it’s better now Time changes everything You hang some pictures up and make A habit out of taking the same way to the grocery store You learn the turns and time the lights, the town you didn’t recognize Becomes a little more like home, you’ll know when you’re Used to the license plates And you gotta a couple friends next door Wake up and realize one day That you don’t hear the train anymore @dashamusicofficial @kylesturrock8815
