Abandoned Railway to Alton Towers – Could Trains Ever Return?
Did you know Alton Towers once had its own railway station? The Churnet Valley Railway, which connected Denstone, Alton (Towers) Station, and Oakamoor, opened in 1849 but saw its last train in 1965. In this disused railway walk, I explore the forgotten tracks that once led visitors right to the famous Alton Towers Theme Park. Starting at Denstone Station, I follow this picturesque abandoned railway, passing through the remains of Alton (Towers) Station-a beautifully preserved station with a rich history. Beyond Alton, I continue toward Oakamoor, where traces of the old railway still remain, including a disused tunnel, level crossing, and the old keeper's cottage. Could this historic line ever see trains again? Watch to find out! 📌 Subscribe for more abandoned railway adventures! 👍 Like & comment if you think this railway should be revived!
