1124 - West Midlands Metro: Black Country Valley extension on Sunday 5th July 2026

Welcome to Podbaba Transport Video 1124. On Sunday 5th July 2026, we filmed possibly the last walk from Dudley Flood Street to Great Bridge without trams. As it was a Sunday, there was no tram testing going on but we could film a lot more of the extension than previously because trams are being tested on a regular basis along the line prior to driver training which is due to commence in early September 2026. Allowing for two months of driver training and route familiarisation, we expect to see the service running before Christmas 2026.... we will, of course, see!! One thing that was profoundly different on this occasion was that most of the line in Dudley is walkable and the tracks are cleared out because of tram movements. All of the tram signals were operational too. Work on the new Dudley Interchange has moved on apace as well. All of the tram stops along the route have seen some change including landscaping and paving and you can spot a sense of real urgency to get the job done. It was brilliant to meet up with chrisdurham7674 and his friends having a bike ride around the new extension from Merry Hill. Hope you enjoyed your ride lads.
