A new maritime security incident has been reported in the Strait of Hormuz after a cargo vessel said it was struck by a projectile while transiting the strategic waterway. According to Reuters, two U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Iran fired on the vessel. The incident was first reported by the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which said the ship was hit southeast of Oman’s Dahit Port. Iran has not specifically commented on the reported strike.
