A Little Piece Of Heaven

There are some people in this world who are so full of love, kindness, and joy that they change every life they touch. And yet, far too often, they're judged by what makes them different instead of celebrated for what makes them extraordinary. When I sat down to write "*A Little Piece of Heaven"*, I didn't want to write a song about limitations. I wanted to write a song about love. I wanted to write about a little girl with Down syndrome whose family sees exactly what she truly is. A blessing. A gift. A little piece of Heaven. The world can be quick to notice differences, but sometimes the people we call "special" are the very ones teaching the rest of us how to love more deeply, forgive more freely, and find joy in the little things we often overlook. This song is dedicated to every child born a little differently, every parent who has stood fiercely beside them, and every family who understands that some of God's greatest blessings arrive a little differently. I hope this song reminds us all that a person's worth is never measured by their challenges, but by the love they bring into the lives of others. And by that measure, some of the richest souls on earth are the ones the world too often underestimates. "A Little Piece Of Heaven" By: Keith Michael Rau Verse One The doctor pulled her mama close And spoke in careful tones Said, "Life may be a little harder Than the one you've always known" He talked about the road ahead And all the things she'd need But Mama held that baby girl And saw a blessing underneath Daddy wiped away a tear As she wrapped his finger tight And somehow in that little room Everything just felt right Chorus A little piece of Heaven Wrapped in ribbons and curls A light sent down from Heaven To brighten up this world Some folks only see differences But that's not what we see We see a gift from God above Exactly who she's meant to be A little piece of Heaven That's what she'll always be And every day she reminds us What love was meant to mean A little piece of Heaven Sent for all the world to see That sometimes God's greatest blessings Arrive a little differently Verse Two Now she's eight years old and full of life With ribbons in her hair She waves at everybody Like she doesn't have a care Some kids whisper when she walks by And some just stare too long But she smiles and keeps on shining Like she's known where she belongs She may learn a little slower And need a little extra time But she fills a room with laughter And a love you can't define Chorus A little piece of Heaven Wrapped in ribbons and curls A light sent down from Heaven To brighten up this world Some folks only see differences But that's not what we see We see a gift from God above Exactly who she's meant to be A little piece of Heaven That's what she'll always be And every day she reminds us What love was meant to mean A little piece of Heaven Sent for all the world to see That sometimes God's greatest blessings Arrive a little differently Bridge The world keeps counting limits While we're counting blessings still She's taught us more about love Than all our years ever will She doesn't see the differences That so many people do She just sees hearts worth loving And treats them like she always knew If kindness is the measure Of the life we're living through Then God must smile when He sees her 'Cause she's showing us the truth Final Chorus A little piece of Heaven Wrapped in ribbons and curls A light sent down from Heaven To brighten up this world Some folks only see differences But that's not what we see We see a gift from God above Exactly who she's meant to be A little piece of Heaven That's what she'll always be And every day she reminds us What love was meant to mean A little piece of Heaven Sent for all the world to see That sometimes God's greatest blessings Arrive a little differently Outro She may never know the difference That she's made along the way Or how many hearts she's lifted With the kindness that she gave She just keeps on shining brightly Like the morning sun above A little piece of Heaven Teaching all of us to love... ©2026 Keith Michael Rau All Rights Reserved.
