Probando COMIDA TUCUMANA (Empanadas Tucumanas y Locro en Pan Casero) + Visitando la CASA DE TUCUMÁN

In today's video, we're going to share with you our first day in Tucumán. Of course, the first thing we did when we arrived in the city was go in search of northern food, and specifically Tucumán food! We decided to go to El Portal, a restaurant downtown that specializes in typical Tucumán dishes. We tried the famous Tucumán empanadas (we ordered them with meat, chicken, and cheese), which are small but delicious! We also ordered humitas (with fresh cheese), tamales (with shredded beef), and locro served on homemade bread. Aside from that, we wanted to try northern desserts, so we ordered a layered cake with dulce de leche and meringue, and a plate of regional sweets and cheeses. That was our introduction to delicious northern food! From there, we went to visit the Casa de Tucumán where Argentina's declaration of independence was proclaimed on July 9, 1816. That was our first day in Tucumán. In the next episode, we'll take you on a tour of Tafí del Valle and Quilmes. Trying TUCUMAN FOOD (Tucuman Empanadas and Locro on Homemade Bread) + Visiting the HOUSE OF TUCUMAN 🇦🇷 Tour of Tucumán: Historic House, Tamales, Locro, and Regional Empanadas 🍽️ Since our arrival in San Miguel de Tucumán, join us on this urban tour full of history and northern flavor. Perfect for your next trip to northern Argentina! Reception in the city: – We arrived a bit groggy after the car ride. – We refreshed ourselves with a nice swim and prepared some "Tucuman fuel." Searching for a typical lunch: – We chose "El Portal" in the heart of the city, just blocks from Plaza Independencia. – Regional atmosphere and good location. Initial Order: – A liter of Salteño table wine with an ancho bread (wine with anchovy… what a spicy pun!). – Extra reinforcement if needed. Tucumán Empanadas Appetizer: – We tried small empanadas with meat, chicken, and cheese. – Firm dough, juicy filling, and just the right amount of spice. Locro Norteño: – Thick stew with corn, sweet potato, beef, and pork. – Covered with grated cheese and served with “pan del velo” (waxed paper). Humitas and Tamales: – Tamales wrapped in corn husks, filled with creamy corn and cheese. – Humita al plato (flat plate), with shredded beef, another northern classic. Regional Sweets: – Jars of figs in syrup, “torta cápita” with dulce de leche and meringue. – Perfect desserts for Tucumán's cool climate. Break at the Historic House of Tucumán: – Tour of the gallery of commemorative plaques from 1816. – Detail of the Italian plaque celebrating the First Centenary. Free guided tour: – Free admission to the building where the Independence was signed. – Preserved rooms: colonial furniture and period objects. School anecdotes: – “In elementary school, they made us trace and color them on tracing paper.” – Memories of parades and history classes in the 1960s. Colonial architecture around the plaza: – White facades, high windows, and large, centuries-old gates. – Contrast with modern establishments that coexist on the block. Tomorrow's plan: Excursion to Tafí del Valle and Quilmes Ruins – 12-hour tour with pickup at 8 AM and return at 8 PM. – Looking forward to exploring the mountain landscapes and the largest archaeological site in Argentina after Machu Picchu. Farewell: – “Today we went to bed early to recharge.” – Announcement of an upcoming video chronicling Tafí del Valle and Quilmes. #Tucumán #CasaHistorica #EmpanadasTucumán #Locro #Humitas #Tamales #ViajeAlNorte #GastronomíaArgentina #TourismTucumán #RuinasDeQuilmes Like 👍, subscribe 🔔, and tell us in the comments which of these dishes you're dying to try! Why you can't miss this video? 🍲 Authentic Tucuman locro: we delve into the pot of this iconic stew of corn, squash, smoked meat, and sweet potato. 🥟 Empanadas salteñas and Tucumán: bite-sized, juicy fillings, and just the right amount of heat. A festival of hippie flavors! 🌽 Humitas and tamales: those corn and melted cheese pastries that lift anyone's spirits. 🍮 Regional sweets: figs in syrup, "torta cápita" (capital cake) with dulce de leche and meringue, and other delicacies you never imagined. 🏛️ The Historic House of Tucumán (free): We walk through colonial corridors where the Independence was signed in 1816, decipher Italian plaques, remember Congress, and relive the faces of our heroes. 🚶🏻 Urban walk: from the mansion's entrance hall to the cobblestone streets, centuries-old palm trees, and merchants with stories to tell.
