The Cargo Hauling Renaissance in Star Citizen

A few years ago, almost nobody dreamed of becoming a cargo hauler in Star Citizen. Players wanted bounty hunting, dogfighting, piracy, and massive fleet battles. Cargo was simply a way to make money before moving on to the "real" gameplay. So what changed? In this video, I explore why cargo hauling has quietly become one of Star Citizen's most enjoyable gameplay loops—and why I don't think it's because cargo itself changed all that much. I think we changed. As Star Citizen has evolved, many of us have discovered that the satisfaction of planning routes, managing logistics, watching the sunrise over a distant moon, and simply existing within the universe has become more rewarding than constant action. Maybe cargo isn't really about making money anymore. Maybe it's about the journey.
