Hi and welcome to another video, St James the Greater church In Barlborough. Is a historic Anglican parish church dating back to the Norman era (c.1160-1170). Francis Rodes of Staveley,a rising lawyer purchased land In Barlborough in the early 1570s he had Barlborough Hall built in 1583-1584 By the 1840s a descendant through various branches of the family,William Hatfield Glossop changed his surname to de Rodes . The memorial archway in the village centre on high street.Erected by William Hatfield de Rodes in 1869,in memory of his wife Sophia Felicite. But what an incredible interesting find , the amount of history, you can find out just in your local area.I wonder how many people that live in the area of Barlborough, actually know about the history of this place,makes you wonder.
