Hi and welcome to another video, St James the Greater church In Barlborough. Is a historic Anglican parish church dating back to the Norman era (c.1160-1170). Francis Rodes of Staveley,a rising lawyer purchased land In Barlborough in the early 1570s he had Barlborough Hall built in 1583-1584 By the 1840s a descendant through various branches of the family,William Hatfield Glossop changed his surname to de Rodes . The memorial archway in the village centre on high street.Erected by William Hatfield de Rodes in 1869,in memory of his wife Sophia Felicite.
