Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan

The Peace Memorial Park - Hiroshima occupies a vast, tree-lined island that was once the Nakajima district—the bustling administrative and commercial heart of the city prior to the bombing. Spanning over 120,000 square meters, the park was designed by the acclaimed Japanese architect Kenzo Tange. Rather than leaving a void of destruction, the city dedicated this central space entirely to peace memorial facilities, conceptualizing a "peace line" that aligns major monuments along a central axis.
